Good Functionality, Sparse Instructions
UPDATE: The desktop application has ceased working for me. I have received a notice that “we are working on” a solution. However, with the lack of a support site, it is hard to keep faith that a solution is eminent.
Original Review:
I have been looking for an app that allows me to set up workouts on my desktop and then track performance on my phone. Fitness Trainer has these features. After a single day of use, here is my impression:
Pros:
+ Able to use desktop Mac to set up workouts
+ Able to track performance on iPhone
+ Able to sync the two applications
+ Extensive library of exercises and workouts
Cons
- Syncing could have a better flow - risk of overwriting data if sequence is wrong.
- Required to purchase app on both Mac and iOS device
Neither con is a deal breaker for me - the combined purchase price at this time is $5.99. A little pricey for an app, but appears to be worth it.
Enhancements that would be beneficial:
* Ability to re-order the exercises within a workout
* Take the measurements to two decimals (".25" is a common increment for body measurements)
* Make upload/download (syncing) a little more clear so that data is not accidently overwritten
Another reviewer made the point that the pick list for adding exercises cannot be searched. I found that adding a "*" at the front of the exercise name made it easier to find the exercise I was looking for.
