Fitness Trainer App Reviews

Disappointed

The exercise database is nice, the photos and videos are well done too. The exercise list is easy to navigate and the exercise descriptions are ok. A cool feature is that you can create your own customized exercises, writing your own instructions and putting your own photos. The main problem of the app is when you need to build your workouts! A desktop App for fitness should be good to build nice workouts and help the user in this process. When you create a new workout you cannot go to the exercise list and add an exercise from there. Instead, you need to use an alphabetically sorted pop-up list that does not even let you search for the exercise. You really need to roll down the list to find the exercise yourself. If you forget to add a given exercise in the middle of your workout and add it in the end, you cannot reorder the exercise list! I bought the software because I though It would be cool to research and develop my workout on my desktop mac and then sync it with my iPhone. However, I got very disappointed because it is really tiresome to build a workout using this app and I really regret I bought it. I am not buying the app for iPhone though.

Great app

This app surpasses all the other workout tracking apps I tried. The only thing thats a bit cumbersome is the lack of automatic synchronization: you have to open a menu and press a button to get the app to sync data with iCloud. (You even have to press a button to upload data to the cloud, which definitely should be automatic). A definite 5 star app if it werent for that.

stop

This application doesnt stop nagging me to rate it and when I say no thanks, it gives me the spinning wheel of death! The workouts are great though but this nags me

Great exercise list but very uncomplete App ...

The database of exercises is very complete… However I found the following problems with the App and wouldn’t recommend buying : - Impossible to do a text search within the database - Some text is cut out because of bad formatting of text boxes - The database of exercises is organized by category (muscle, equipment, etc…) which is great but when you create your own custom workout and want to add an exercise from the database there is no mean to search within these categories. You only have access to an alphabetical list of all possible exercise, which makes it difficult to select the exercises you want to put in your workout. - The logging functions are not so straightforward to use. Summarizing, the app is still very perfectible and was not worth my investment.

Not user friendly.

I bought this app with the intention of being able to create my own workouts on my computer and have them sync to my phone - but when I tried to create a workout plan I couldn’t even figure out how to add exercises to my plan. Great list of exercises available, but hardly user friendly when trying to create your own workouts. Waste of money - unless all you want is a detailed list of exercises.

money in the trash

no possibility to print your workouts. You’ve to travel with your iMac in the gym to use it! In case of moving exercises, you have to rewrite the workouts from the begin.

Solid Application

Nice app; and works well once you set up your custom workouts. Syncs between my iPhone/iPad/Macbook Pro with ease. Support team responds quickly to any questions you may have, which is very important to me and Id imagine most users.

It has potential but

as many fitness app, as long as they do not allow searching for the exercises when you create a new workout, they are a pain in the neck to use...

Best Tracker!

I have FT on my iPhone and Mac. Very easy and comprehensive. I log everything when I’m at the gym on my phone then I chart my progress on my Mac. Great for logging.

Excellent app, great support

This app continues to get better and better. Constantly being updated and when I email support, I have a response within hours.

I love you can use it on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Its perfect! I don’t have to buy and download all these different fitness applications. It shows photos of how it is to be done and other techniques. I really like that you are able to use your info throughout all of the apple devices and it syncs and your updated. Smart idea of being able to sync your workouts to other devices so it goes with you whereever you go.

Excellent features; but it crashes frequently

The Good: I’m a beginner, using this app to teach me how to do these exercises, and to log my progress. I couldn’t be happier. It has a large catalog of exercises to choose from, with clear explanations and wonderful “show me” videos integrated nicely into the page. you can get your instructions in writing, by audio (“tell me”) and HD video (“Show me.”) 5-stars for all of that. More good: I’ve installed the app on my iPhone and also the Mac. I use the iPhone when working out (what to do next, review the instructions, look at the demo, do the exercise, and log what I’ve done), and then when I get home, can upload my log to the Cloud and then download it to my Mac to keep long-term records. All good. For improvement: too bad the synchronization via the cloud isn’t automatic, the way Apple’s apps are (contacts, notes, calendar, etc.) You have to upload from the phone manually, and then download to the Mac manually. 3-stars for this. The terrible: The Mac app crashes frequently. I mean really, really frequently. I have Mavericks (Mac OS 10.9) on my Mac. For example, when adding exercises from the catalog, it crashed each time I added one. (At least it did add and save it before crashing). I had to re-launch the app after adding each exercise. This is inexcusable. Less than 1-star for stability. Fix the crashing and my review goes to 4-stars. Then make it sync automatically whenever data changes and this will be a 5-star app.

Good Functionality, Sparse Instructions

UPDATE: The desktop application has ceased working for me. I have received a notice that “we are working on” a solution. However, with the lack of a support site, it is hard to keep faith that a solution is eminent. Original Review: I have been looking for an app that allows me to set up workouts on my desktop and then track performance on my phone. Fitness Trainer has these features. After a single day of use, here is my impression: Pros: + Able to use desktop Mac to set up workouts + Able to track performance on iPhone + Able to sync the two applications + Extensive library of exercises and workouts Cons - Syncing could have a better flow - risk of overwriting data if sequence is wrong. - Required to purchase app on both Mac and iOS device Neither con is a deal breaker for me - the combined purchase price at this time is $5.99. A little pricey for an app, but appears to be worth it. Enhancements that would be beneficial: * Ability to re-order the exercises within a workout * Take the measurements to two decimals (".25" is a common increment for body measurements) * Make upload/download (syncing) a little more clear so that data is not accidently overwritten Another reviewer made the point that the pick list for adding exercises cannot be searched. I found that adding a "*" at the front of the exercise name made it easier to find the exercise I was looking for.

Really like the idea of this app but it crashes all the time

I like this app, I like the idea even better. Please make the MAC version stop crashing and make the IOS version Log easier to use by letting you just add the excersie to the log from your workout. Hope this app get’s better

Good fitness app!

Great investment, I just wish the icloud sync to iphone and ipad was something less you have to think about… instead of uploadinng and downloading, just syncing (at least there is an iphone and ipad companion). I also wish it could go full screen. I’m still playing around with the app, but so far, so good. I don’t regret my purchase.

Doesn’t even load

I would skip this one, I can’t even get it to open anymore. When it did open I was unimpressed with the journaling system.

Irritating App

Very unimpressed by its current state. App worked great starting off, so I added it to all my iOS devices. Now, it has turned to pure crap and freezes up or crashes on all my devices! Not very happy with this app right now. Especially in the middle of a good workout.

just bought, crashed after 2 minutes of use

Awesome Trainer!

Best training app!! I always love using this app! Recomended several times! And the sync feature to all my devices is great! My only wish is for the sync feature to be automatic or give me the ability to have automatic sync. FYI: As I use the beta (6, 7 & 8) os and now on the mac (yosemite), this app always crashes during this phase. I am not sure why or what this app actually does that cause this failure but it does get very upsetting.

Great Companion App!

Awesome videos and images. I love that you cant sync between iOS and Mac OS. Great update!!!
